1A) First this method is defined as moderate work (medium intensity) and should never exceed anaerobic threshold because if you do it leads to hypoxia and the destruction of mitochondria. All muscle fibers must be involved with a phase of relaxation (so lunge out return to start position pause for a second then lunge again). The work to rest duration is as follows 5-20 minutes of work followed by 2-10 minutes of rest (total duration of session is 60-90 minutes max). Do not exceed glycogen reserves in body. The goal of these sessions is to create hyperplasia and this can only be achieved when worked to maximum capacity.
2Q) Could you define an oxidative squat and its merits?
2A) To increase hyperplasia in slow-twitch this work must be done without a relaxation phase (goal is to squeeze capillaries). This method will benefit athletes requiring highest output of power over period of time (game/team sport athletes). By increasing hyperplasia this can increase mitochondria and increase protein synthesis. Should always be done at the end of the training session.
It does not matter how strong you are if you don’t have the capacities to display the strength over duration of a game.
Uden at kende McLaughlin, så lyder det mistænkeligt meget som broscience. Det er forvejen stadig spekulativt, om der overhovedet kan forekomme hyperplasi. Det er naturligvis metodisk svært, men mange studier har ikke observeret hyperplasi i forsøg, hvor det fysiologiske muskeltværsnitsareal er vokset. Der er dog indikationer på at det kan forekomme - blandt i et nyligt studie fra Aarhus omkring KAATSU-træning, men der fra og så kunne gå til, at kunne komme med anbefalinger til hvorledes man i sin træning kan ramme selektiv hyperplasi på ST-fibre, ja, der er der vist et pænt stykke.
Selektiv hypertrofi på ST-fibre er heller ikke interessant ift. powerudvikling over en længere periode. Så er det mere interessant at få FTx-fibrene transformeret til FTa-fibre, som stort set al træning i øvrigt gør. Så har man en mere udholdende, men stadig meget eksplosiv muskelfiber.
